Like many homeowners, Melton Bennett, founder of What's Under Your Roof?, spent six years saying that he needed to inventory his home in case of a fire, burglary or natural disaster, but never took action. When he finally began to create an inventory, he realized what a daunting task taking an inventory can be. He also realized that few homeowners and small businesses owners in metro Atlanta have taken the opportunity to protect their material assets by creating an itemized inventory of their possessions and most people do not have the time to fit it into their busy schedule.
With that in mind, What's Under Your Roof? was born. "Once I discovered and perfected the tools to take a home or small business inventory thoroughly and securely, I was eager to share it with everyone." Helping clients understand why they need a complete home or office documentation service is at the center of his company's mission. "It is my mission to educate people on the importance of maintaining a complete home and small business inventory and make it as easy as possible for a victim of a burglary, fire or natural disaster to recover 100% of their losses from their insurance provider."
Sadly, many people believe that insurance carriers will simply write them a check for the amount of their coverage in the event of a loss. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. If you can't recall what you own, you will likely not get reimbursed. Many people can't recall all of the contents within their family room, much less their entire home. As a wine collector, Melton also realized that his wine cellar inventory was not documented and was at risk for being irreplaceable simply by not knowing exactly which wines he had spent years collecting. His wine cellar management tool allowed him to not only inventory his wine collection, but also to capture information on how long the wine should sit before drinking. What's Under Your Roof? can capture details of the varietal, vintage, region, scores and taste properties of each bottle of wine in a collection.

Melton grew up in Adel, GA and has resided in the northern suburbs of Atlanta for more than 10 years and is active in several civic and business organizations. In his free time Melton enjoys writing short stories, hiking and watching football. An avid animal lover, he also volunteers with his local humane society and serves as an Angel sponsor for Best Friends Animal Society, the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in North America. He spends one week a year volunteering at the 30,000 acre sanctuary near Kanab, Utah each year.
